This was my family's third consecutive time going to KTIS's summer music festival called Joyful Noise Family Fest. Each year we've gone looking forward to different artists and come away with new favorite songs. We've filled ourselves up with concessions until we just couldn't eat any more corn on the cob, cotton candy, or popcorn. And, most importantly, we've gotten to spend some time together outside of our regular Monday night dinners. It's become a sort of tradition for us, one I look forward to every year.
This year, the lineup included the Newsboys, Francesca Battistelli, Josh Wilson, the Union Gospel Mission/Teen Challenge choir, Chris Tomlin, Crowder, Matt Maher, Meredith Andrews, Zealand Worship, Consumed by Fire, John, Tibbs, and Carrollton.
I was most looking forward to seeing Francesca Battistelli, Josh Wilson, and Meredith Andrews, and they were all fantastic! But I will be quick to admit that I enjoyed every single musician that I had the pleasure of listening to over the course of the weekend. I only wish I hadn't had to miss out on the afternoon acts due to an ill-timed eye doctor appointment.
The weather wasn't exactly fabulous, but we lucked out and missed most of the rain, which was a huge God-send, considering the forecast and storms passing through. Despite the sprinkles, the National Sports Center was jam-packed full with people attending the two-day event. It was so encouraging to see so many people gather to worship God together, knowing the rain wasn't going to keep them away.
Of course, it was also really nice just to get to spend some time walking around, people-watching, and getting in low-key exercise while listening to the different bands. Even when I wasn't especially keyed-in to whoever was performing, it provided a great backdrop for conversations and lots of food consumption. : )
I can't wait to see who is performing next year!
