Highlight Reel (August 2018 Favorites)
I thought it would be fun if I took a moment each month to let you know what things are currently striking my fancy, so here goes the August installment!

This month, I read Anne Bogel's new book, I'd Rather be Reading, which I absolutely loved! She did such a fantastic job capturing the love of reading and how it affects every area of our lives, enriching it more than we ever thought possible. (You can preorder her book with some great bonuses through 9/4 at idratherbereading.com.)
I also read Once and For All by Sarah Dessen, which I really enjoyed. I once dreamed of being an event planner and even considered being a wedding planner, and this book (along with thoroughly entertaining me) reminded me of why I decided against that!
I read What She Knew by Gilly McMillan, too, which took me a while to get through because of the weight of the subject matter (a child that goes missing in the woods virtually under his mother's nose).
I started reading Rudyard Kipling's The Jungle Books, too-- you guys, I hadn't realized there was more to the story than the Disney version or that there were multiple books! So good! And i have the pretty Penguin classics cloth-bound version that I just love to look at almost as much as I like to read it.
"Less, but better." I'm not sure who started this, but it's a big concept in minimalist circles. While I don't consider myself a true minimalist (at least in terms of the pervading minimalist aesthetic), I do love simplicity, and this mantra has helped me go deep instead of wide in various aspects of my life and business.
I watched the most recent seasons of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, Hawaii Five-O, and Madame Secretary. They're so different from each other, but so good!
I also watched The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society, and I loved it!
I'm going to the Needtobreathe concert in Minneapolis in a couple weeks, so I've been listening to their latest music, along with Johnnyswim's, since they're coming together. I'm really liking Johnnyswim's "Summertime Romance"!
I made some really good spicy orange ginger chicken stir fry based on this recipe (though I added veggies)!
MEMORIES FROM AUGUST:
I can't believe summer is over! I am not happy about that. I do love fall, though, so I suppose it's okay.
This month, I had a friend's baby shower that doubled as a mini roommate reunion, which was tons of fun! I also went to my dad's softball tournament, where they came in second place!
I also wrapped up my Conquer Your Copy course to help busy creatives and entrepreneurs create more content in less time, and I'm loving it!
I got to be on quite a few Facebook live interviews and a podcast interview, too, which were all so much fun!
One of my favorite moments was when I got offered to start hosting my very own show!! I'm going to be going live every Thursday at 10am CDT in the Godly Women Win! Facebook group (and posting it to the Notes from Jessie page shortly after that) every week to talk all about Simplicity Made Simple!
LOOKING FORWARD TO IN SEPTEMBER:
I have a wedding for one of my college roommates, and I'm making a pitstop in my college town to reminisce, which I'm really looking forward to.
I'm starting a 30-day live video challenge centering around productivity in September, and I'm going to be hosting a free 5-day challenge you won't want to miss! You can join here!
I'm also going to start creating content for my comprehensive business-building course that I'm so stoked for! (Want to know more? Comment below or email me at email@example.com!)
What were some of your favorite things this month? I'd love to hear from you in the comments!
